Province offering family physicians $25,000 retention bonus

The provincial government is offering family doctors in Newfoundland and Labrador a $25 thousand-dollar retention bonus in exchange for a one-year return to service agreement.

The bonus will be pro-rated, with physicians doing full-time clinical work getting the full $25 thousand dollars. 

NLMA supports Atlantic provinces physician registry

On Monday, the Atlantic provinces have a new registry to enable doctors to travel and temporarily fill gaps in other provinces.

NLMA wants explanation for higher costs of 811 health line

The NLMA is asking for an explanation for the cost of 811 health services. That’s after an access-to-information request revealed the new contract with Fonemed, the company that administers the phone line, costs more per patient than in-person visits to doctors.
