Residents uneasy in Harbour Grace as homicide investigation continues

The Mayor of Harbour Grace says the recent murder of one their own has had a devastating impact on people in the region.

With residents feeling more fearful, Mayor Don Coombs hopes those who have information will step forward to help police solve the crime. NTV’s Rosie Mullaley reports.

Police believe more than one person was involved in the murder of 34-year-old Adam Mercer of Harbour Grace.

The RCMP say they have identified suspects and are looking for other people who may have played a role. NTV’s Rosie Mullaley reports.

RCMP to provide update on Harbour Grace homicide investigation on Wednesday

The RCMP will give an update tomorrow on the homicide investigation in Harbour Grace.

It’s been two weeks since human remains were found inside a burned out vehicle in a wooded area near Glover Road. The RCMP will hold a news conference at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow.

Human remains found in Harbour Grace last week ruled homicide

RCMP NL’s investigation into human remains that were found in Harbour Grace last week has been deemed a homicide investigation.

On the afternoon of April 11, 2023, police received a report of an abandoned burned out vehicle in a wooded area near Glover Road in Harbour Grace.  Human remains were located inside the vehicle.  The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has since determined the identity of the victim and has deemed the death a homicide.

Motorists who were traveling in the area of the intersection of Glover Road and the Veterans Memorial Highway are asked to check any available dash cam footage that they may have between noon on Sunday April 9, and noon on Monday April 10, 2023.  Those having information are asked to contact Harbour Grace RCMP at 709-596-5014.

The public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.

As RCMP in Harbour Grace continue to look for answers about human remains discovered in that town earlier this week, investigators are asking the public for help.

Police confirm human remains in Harbour Grace found in burned out vehicle

Police are confirming that the human remains found in Harbour Grace this week were in an abandoned, burned out vehicle.

Police received a report of an abandoned and burned out vehicle in a wooded area near Glover Road in Harbour Grace on Tuesday afternoon. RCMP located the vehicle and found human remains inside.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has been engaged in the investigation, as well as RCMP NL Forensic Identification Section.

As police continue to conduct their investigation, they are asking the public to please avoid the Glover Road area in order for work to continue without interference. Police are also requesting that anyone who owns a trailer, cabin or property in the area and who may have trail camera or surveillance footage, to please review recent footage and report anything suspicious. Residents can continue to anticipate a high police presence in the area, as the investigation continues.

Water warning issued for some Harbour Grace residents

Some Harbour Grace residents were warned not to drink the water this weekend because of dangerous levels of arsenic in the old southside well.
