Weekend Weather Forecast
This weekend’s weather across Newfoundland and Labrador is shaping up to contrast two very different stories.
For Newfoundland, a slow-moving area of low pressure—formerly a nor’easter—is set to bring unsettled conditions across much of the island.
Friday Night:
Rain becomes widespread, except for the Northern Peninsula. Expect lows between 2 and 4°C, with areas of fog near east-facing shores. Winds from the east will strengthen, gusting to 40 km/h.
Saturday:
Showers and fog dominate, especially along eastern-facing coastlines. Temperatures will stay near 4°C in onshore wind zones but could reach up to 10°C further inland. Widespread cloud cover will persist.
Sunday:
Scattered showers continue, with the possibility of wet snow mixing in over higher terrain in the west. Highs will range from 4 to 7°C.
Monday through Midweek:
The weather begins to turn the corner on Monday with drier skies and highs from 7 to 15°C. By Tuesday and Wednesday, spring-like warmth takes hold. Much of the island, especially Central Newfoundland, will see temperatures nearing 20°C, with teens expected elsewhere.
Meanwhile in Labrador, it’s a completely different story.
All Weekend:
Sunshine dominates, with highs ranging from 7 to 11°C along the coast and up to 16°C inland.
Monday to Wednesday:
Expect continued warmth, with most areas seeing highs in the mid to upper teens. A slight chance of showers may creep into western regions on Tuesday.
If you’re on the island—keep the umbrella and rain jacket handy. But for those in Labrador, it’s looking like a picture-perfect spring weekend.
