
Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation Fred Hutton will participate in this year’s ceremony commemorating the Battle of the Somme and the efforts and sacrifices of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment in Beaumont Hamel, France on Tuesday.
The event takes place on July 1 at 4:00 p.m. local time. As part of the ceremony, Hutton will address attendees and lay a wreath at the Beaumont Hamel Newfoundland Memorial.
Hutton will be joined by Minister Gerry Byrne, Ambassador to France and Monaco Stéphane Dion, and Special Envoy to the European Union and Europe; Madame Laurence Lecoustre.
This ceremony is also attended by the annual Trail of the Caribou Student Pilgrimage.
