Sixteen-year-old J.D. Trainor lost his battle with cancer on Thursday. Pictures and kind words are pouring out all over social media for J.D., who was often referred to as a force to be reckoned with on and off the ice.
J.D. loved hockey and played on many different teams throughout his years. His friends and family would tell you that he was an amazing hockey player, but an even better person.Ā

Many players wore his number on their helmets over the weekend, while others donned pink on their gear in remembrance. Teams of all ages across the province held a moment of silence before puck drop.Ā
Just two weeks ago, a tribute night was held for J.D. in paradise where hundreds of people came out to honour him and raise money as a part of High School Hockey Fights Cancer.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, and the family asks attendees to wear their favourite hockey jersey to honour J.D. Trainor’s love for the game.
