Patients and staff were evacuated from Carbonear General Hospital as a precautionary measure Sunday afternoon after an incident with an electrical panel.

Power was interrupted and there was some smoke in parts of the hospital. Fire crews arrived on site quickly so staff and patients could re-enter the building and operations could resume.

N.L. Health Services says it is continuing to determine what caused the power outage.
