Kaetlyn Osmond of Marystown is now the world champion in ladies’ figure skating.

Osmond vaulted into first place Friday at the end of the long program at the World Figure Skating Championships in Milan, Italy. She had been in fourth place after the short program.

It caps an amazing season for Osmond, who won a team gold and individual bronze medal at the Winter Olympics in South Korea. Osmond sounded surprised herself when she took to Twitter Friday night.

“What just happened!! Am I dreaming?! Did I honestly just win worlds?!” she wrote.
