Just over three years ago an explosion and fire destroyed the Waterford Manor on Waterford Bridge Road. Following a lengthy police investigation, one of its owners was arrested and charged with arson.
Today, that trial got underway in Supreme Court. David Badrudin is charged with setting the fire. Just five people are expected to testify. The first will take the stand tomorrow morning, a fire investigator. He will describe how they found four large, 20 litre containers, distributed strategically throughout the house – two on each floor. Others expected to take the stand in the coming days.
They are expected to testify as to what and who they saw around the time of the fire. The Crown admits the jury will have to read between the lines, and while he says they don’t have a smoking gun, they do have a smoking house in this case.
