It’s jersey day across Canada and thousands of people here in this province are donning jerseys of their favorite sports teams and sporting yellow and green in support of the Humboldt Broncos tragedy.
The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District encouraged students to participate, and even the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and members of the House of Assembly are wearing jerseys as a show of respect for the victims of the bus tragedy that claimed the lives of 16 members of the Broncos hockey team.
A number of local businesses are also on board, encouraging staff to wear yellow and green, the Bronos team colors.
Meanwhile – at Sportscraft Source for Sports on Ropewalk Lane in St. John’s – the business is selling ‘Broncos Strong’ hoodies with 100 per cent of the proceeds going towards Humboldt. A lineup this morning to pre-order the hoodies was wrapped around the block.
