St. John’s Man Claims He Was A Victim Of A Hate Crime
Pattrick Blackburn of St. John’s says he was the victim of a hate crime, attacked because he is gay and now he has taken to social media to share his story, even posting a video on YouTube.
He claims he was mugged and beaten to within minutes of death – gaybashed, when a friend found him and saved his life. In the tearful video, he says he was taken to hospital where he was given a blood transfusion. The next day he was released. Since then he has posted numerous pictures and videos on Facebook and YouTube with hundreds of messages of support. A fundraising site has even been set up, asking for donations for Blackburn.
So far, no suspects have been arrested in the case and while Blackburn says he reported the attack to police, the RNC says they haven’t received an official victim complaint. Police say they are looking into the incident.
NTV News has reached out to Mr. Blackburn for an interview, but he hasn’t responded.
