The second round of National Basketball League of Canada (NBL) playoffs kicks off this evening for the St. John’s Edge in London, Ontario.

The Edge, who swept their opening round best-of-five series against the Windsor Express, now face off against the London Lightning in the best-of-seven divisional final. A series win earns the expansion Edge a trip to the league final.

It’s been a big year for the club. Carl English was named league most valuable player, while head coach and GM Jeff Dunlap was selected the circuit’s top executive. The Edge, of course, are the first expansion team to ever sweep their opening round playoff series.

As for the tape of the tape for this series, London finished just ahead of The Edge in the standings. Head to head, defending champion London won four of seven games against St. John’s. Games 1 and 2 are set for London, while the series shifts back to Mile One Centre in St. John’s on Saturday.
