The St. John’s Edge basketball team won’t have Head Coach and General Manager Jeff Dunlap directing the team next season. Dunlap confirmed to NTV news he has taken a position with an American school.
Currently no players have signed contracts for the upcoming basketball season, seven players rights will be protected by the team ahead of the Board of Governors meetings which are expected to take place in the coming weeks. Generally, the head coach would choose those seven players to be protected, but currently without one, the Edge’s ownership group will decided the chosen seven unless the head job is filled before the meetings.
Dunlap coached the Edge to an impressive inaugural season record of 30-19, and coached the team to the playoff Divisional finals were it fell to the league champions the London Lightning. The Edge’s impressive playoff run was the first time an expansion team of the NBL has made the divisional final.
