The St. John’s Edge dropped a heart-breaking loss last night at Mile One Centre and now stare down elimination as they head on the road for Game 6 and, if necessary, Game 7.
The Edge, bolstered by yet another large crowd at Mile One, dropped a 130-127 decision to the to the London Lightning. They now trail the best-of-seven series 3-2.
In a game which saw both the Edge and the Lightning go shot for shot, the game was decided in the final seconds. London built a comfortable lead in the first quarter with Royce White putting up 16 points in the opening 12 minutes.
However, St. John’s battled back and trailed just 53-51 at the half. Both teams battled in the second half but it was the defending champs who got the win.
Carl English led St. John’s with 34 points, while Charles Hinkle added 21. White led the Lightning with a game-high 37 points.
The best-of-seven series now shifts to London for Game 6 on Sunday at and Game Seven, if necessary, Tuesday, May 1.
