A nomination battle is brewing for the NDP in St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi.

St. John’s Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary confirmed to NTV Monday she plans to run against Lorraine Michael for the nomination in the district. Michael, a former party leader, has represented the area in the House of Assembly since 2006.

The news comes as the NDP is searching for a new leader to replace Gerry Rogers. Nominations closed on Friday, but the party has not yet made an announcement.
