Environment Canada has issued a Rainfall Warning for the following areas:

  • Connaigre
  • Burgeo – Ramea
  • Channel-Port aux Basques

The text from the Rainfall Warning reads as follows:

Extremely heavy rain is expected.

Heavy rain will continue today and tonight with total rainfall amounts expected to range from 100 to 200 mm. Some areas could see in excess of 200 mm of rainfall, especially over the Burgeo to Ramea forecast region. Several hours with extreme rainfall rates of 20 mm per hour or more are certainly possible during this time.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Rapidly rising rivers and creeks can sweep away bridges, culverts, buildings, and people. Don’t approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.


A Rainfall Warning is in effect for the following areas:

  • Clarenville & vicinity
  • Bonavista Peninsula
  • Terra Nova
  • Gander & vicinity
  • Bonavista North
  • Bay of Exploits
  • Green Bay – White Bay
  • Grand Falls-Windsor & vicinity
  • Buchans and the Interior
  • Burin Peninsula
  • Bay St. George
  • Corner Brook & vicinity
  • Deer Lake – Humber Valley

Heavy rain will continue today and tonight with total rainfall amounts expected to range from 70 to 120 mm. Some areas could see locally higher amounts. Extreme rainfall rates of 20 mm per hour or more are certainly possible at times.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow, fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle or a person away. Don’t approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.


A Rainfall Warning is in effect for the following areas:

  • St. John’s & vicinity
  • Avalon Peninsula North
  • Avalon Peninsula Southeast
  • Avalon Peninsula Southwest

Showers will change to rain at times heavy today and will continue tonight. Total rainfall amounts are expected to range from 40 to 70 mm with locally higher amounts possible. High rainfall rates in excess of 10 mm per hour or more are certainly possible during this time.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.


A Rainfall Warning is in effect for the following area:

  • Gros Morne

The text from the Rainfall Warnings reads as follows:

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

Rain, at times heavy, will continue today and tonight with total rainfall amounts expected to range from 40 to 60 mm. High rainfall rates of 10 mm per hour or more are certainly possible during this time.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

Environment Canada has issued a Wind Warning for later today into Tuesday morning for the following area:

  • Burgeo – Ramea

The Wind Warning statement from Environment Canada reads as follows:

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

Northeasterly winds gusting up to 100 km/h are expected to develop along parts of the coast tonight. Winds are expected to diminish slightly by Tuesday morning.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
