The federal government unveiled new environmental legislation on Thursday that will affect major offshore oil projects. A new federal agency will be created to work with the C-NLOPB on environmental assessments. The Impact Assessment Agency will have an office in Newfoundland and Labrador, but the local oil industry and provincial government still have unanswered questions about what it all means.
