A new study on the feasibility of a fixed link between Labrador and Newfoundland shows that a tunnel across the Strait of Belle Isle is technically possible. But it would cost billions of dollars and take years to build. Premier Dwight Ball says it would be built with private money, but a decision is still years away. Danny Dumaresque, who has long championed the idea of a fixed link, argues there is no reason to wait and the province should already be seeking private companies to build it.
