Roads were extremely slippery last night when a truck lost control downtown St. John’s. Shortly after midnight, a vehicle slid into the guardrail then over the harbour apron and into the frigid waters. The pickup became completely submerged but luckily the driver escaped without serious injury. The lone male occupant used his feet to kick out the front windshield and exit the wreck. He was immediately helped out of the bitter cold and into warm, dry clothes. Road conditions were not favorable at the time of the crash. Drugs and Alcohol were not a factor in the accident.
