Guilty Plea in Murder Case

The case of Jonathan Whiteway was called at provincial court in Gander Thursday… at that time he pleaded guilty to second degree murder admitting to the shooting death of his stepmother two years ago. This was the scene in Lewisporte in March of 2008 after forty-six year old Dianne Whiteway was shot and killed in this home. Mr. Whiteway was originally facing a charge of first degree murder… but this morning he pleaded to the lesser charge. Second degree murder carries a minimum life sentence with no chance of parole for at least ten years… Mr. Whiteway’s sentencing will take place in June.
