Former fish plant workers in New Harbour are getting some help from the provincial government. Upwards of 130 people are out of work because of the sudden decision by the Daley Brothers to close its New Harbour plant. The move took the community and province by surprise. In the past, the plant had operated for a number of months each year.

The fish plant workers who turned down offers by the company to relocate to other Daley Brothers plant can avail of employment and training services being offered by the Department of Advanced Education and Skills. Information sessions are scheduled for next week to provide advice to workers around career counselling and job searches.
