The minimum wage will increase to $11.40 an hour effective April 1, up from $11.15, Advanced Education Minister Bernard Davis announced Friday.

It’s the second annual increase since the province linked the minimum wage to the consumer price index. The minimum wage overtime rate will increase to $17.10 an hour.

The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, today announced the minimum wage rate as of April 1, 2019, will be $11.40 and the minimum overtime wage rate will be $17.10.

“Our government committed to ensuring annual increases for minimum wage earners in this province and we have again delivered on that promise,” Davis said. “We will continue to monitor and review our labour standards legislation to ensure it remains relevant, responsive, and comparable to jurisdictions across the country.”
