The Avalon Peninsula was digging out from a messy mix of snow and rain Sunday, leaving behind icy conditions on Monday morning.

Clogged storm drains led to localized flooding in many areas of St. John’s and Mount Pearl. That’s after about 15 centimetres of snow fell at St. John’s International Airport, followed by 19 millimetres of rain.

Some roads were closed Sunday night as municipal crews worked to clear the flooding. By Monday morning, all the water had frozen. Drivers and pedestrians are urged to be cautious.
