The second annual Turning the Tide Marine Industry Awards recipients were announced Monday and will be honoured at a special gala ceremony next month.

Chairman Paul Antle, along with members of the selection committee, acknowledged this year’s recipients in three categories. Atlantic Towing has been given the award for Industry Leadership and Excellence, Chesley Penney Sr. was acknowledged as the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Captain William Jackman is honoured as the recipient of Historical Marine significance after saving 27 lives from a sinking vessel in 1867.

The awards were created last year by industry to honour leaders who are making a difference in various aspects of marine industry. The official ceremony of recognition will take place April 19 at the St. John’s Convention Centre. Proceeds from the event support the Home From The Sea Foundation in Elliston.
