A Clarenville man charged with uttering threats that closed all schools in the area on Tuesday has been arrested yet again.

Gordon Wheaton, 45, had appeared in Clarenville provincial court on Tuesday to answer to charges of uttering threats against a person and was released on a judge’s undertaking with multiple conditions. The threats involved Riverside Elementary School in nearby Shoal Harbour. The English School District had closed all schools in Clarenville on Tuesday morning as a precaution.

Later on Tuesday evening, while RCMP were conducting a court-approved curfew check, Wheaton was found to be in breach of one of the conditions of his release and was arrested. He will appear in Clarenville provincial court later Wednesday to answer to the new charge.
