The RCMP in Happy Valley-Goose Bay arrested a 50-year-old Rigolet man for pointing a gun at provincial highways workers and failing the breathalyser Sunday evening.
Workers with the Department of Transport Depot in Crooks Lake called police around 5:15. They say an intoxicated man drove into their lot looking for alcohol and cigarettes. The man was told there wasn’t any. He then pulled a gun from his vehicle and pointed it at the staff. RCMP found the vehicle headed north on Highway 510 an hour later – at about 6:15.
The man was taken into police custody without incident.
However, police found several hundred rounds of ammunition in the man’s vehicle. He’s been charged with several firearms offences and refusing the breathalyzer.
He appeared in provincial court this morning.
