The MHA for Labrador West is encouraging both IOC and the United Steelworkers union to get back to the bargaining table. More than 1,000 workers have been off the job in Labrador City since March 27.

Local MHA Graham Letto says the work stoppage is having a negative impact on everyone in Labrador West. While he says he respects the mandate of the union membership – he’s concerned about the reports that IOC is using replacement workers, despite assurances in writing from the company, that there’s none on site. The union faithful rejected the company’s latest offer last month, despite an endorsement from the executive. Letto is urging both sides to get back to the bargaining table. No new talks have been scheduled.
