There will be more eyes on neighbourhoods in the coming months as Jiffy Cabs joins the Neighbourhood Watch program.

Jiffy Cabs proposed the idea to St. John’s City Council, posting signs on all eight stands and 85 cars as the first step towards a common goal of safer, more connected neighbourhoods.

The decals posted on the cars will alert residents who may need assistance: Jiffy will help those residents who may be in distress connect with police or emergency services.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is a partner in the Neighbourhood Watch program. Cst. Tanya Schwartz, the Community Services Officer, was consulted on the concept of connecting the Neighbourhood Watch program to local taxi companies to promote awareness.
