A tanker truck carrying jet fuel tipped over onto its side on the roundabout leading to St. John’s International Airport on Saturday.

No major injuries were reported. The driver was taken to hospital as a precaution.

World Parkway was closed for eight hours so the fuel could be safely transferred from the overturned tanker to another truck and so the accident scene could be cleaned up. Traffic was diverted through the old airport access road at Craig Dobbin Way.

The RNC reported at 1:40 a.m. Sunday that World Parkway had reopened to traffic.
