For the first-time in franchise history the Acadie-Bathurst Titan are the Memorial Cup Champions, downing the Regina Pats 3-0 in the final.

The Titan were backstopped by local Evan Fitzpatrick who stopped all 28 shots he faced. It’s the first shutout victory for a championship team since 2005.

Adam Holwell, also from St. John’s, opened the scoring for the Titan with just over three minutes to play in the opening frame. Holwell’s goal would be the eventual game winner, earning him third star of the game.

The Titan finished the tournament with an overall record of 3-1. John Maher from Gander also got to hoist the cup. This season marked his fourth year with the club.
