Someone with a lot of knowledge on debit machines has been defrauding businesses in the central Newfoundland.
The Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce says using surveillance video, they’ve identified someone who is using machines to have their purchase approved without actually paying. But the culprits can be identified by the number of buttons they press on the machine.
Whereas most transactions require four to six keystrokes, the persons in this case are entering up to 20 keystrokes. The business is left to pick up the tab.
