Cst. Joe Smyth took the stand in his own defence at an obstruction of justice trial on Monday. He recalled the day he pulled over a motorcycle for a traffic stop. It was just a month after the inquiry into the shooting death of Don Dunphy had ended, and Smyth had returned to work with no medical or psychiatric clearance required from a doctor.
