Opposition leader Ches Crosbie has asked the Commissioner for Legislative Standards to launch another investigation.
This time, Crosbie is alleging that Premier Dwight Ball violated the MHA Code of Conduct. Crosbie wants to know if Ball gave advice to independent MHA Eddie Joyce on how to respond to allegations against him.
“The allegations of witness tampering against Premier Ball undermine the integrity of months of deliberation by the House of Assembly,” Crosbie said in a statement. “Return to honest government requires they be investigated.”
Premier Dwight Ball fired back with a statement of his own on Tuesday, accusing Crosbie of engaging in mudslinging.
“I hope this shows [the people of the province] how Ches Crosbie and the PC Party spend their time – playing politics and mudslinging,” Ball said. “I encouraged both complainants and respondents to be complete in their submissions to the Commissioner of Legislative Standards, and today, Ches is taking issue with that.
“As the PC Party continues playing politics, I remain focused on creating jobs, restoring fiscal balance, and delivering better services and better outcomes for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.”
