The communities of Bay Roberts and Heart’s Content mourned alongside that of Stony Plain, Alberta this weekend as a celebration of life for 18-year-old Parker Tobin was held Sunday afternoon.

A vigil was held last night in Heart’s Content, the small town where Parker’s mother, Rhonda Clarke-Tobin, grew up.

In Alberta, the area around the Glenn Hall Arena was covered with yellow and green ribbons, hockey nets and goalie equipment to remember the Humboldt Broncos goalie – one of 16 who lost their lives in the tragic bus accident. A GoFundMe page for Parker Tobin’s family remembers him as “smart, quick-witted, athletic, and determined to accomplish many great feats in life.”

A hockey tournament was also held Saturday night in Bay Roberts with the RCMP raising money for Tobin’s family. Parker’s dad, Eddie Tobin, is from Bay Roberts. A number of local businesses in the area are also fundraising for the family.
