St. John’s City Council will be voting on its municipal budget this evening, and it’s anticipated to please rate payers.

The city currently has a mil rate of 7.7 percent with a three million dollar budget and in year two of its three year budget plan. The 2020 fiscal budget is expected to have no mil rate increase – the budget will outline the city’s spending priorities and how it expects to pay for them.

While residents will be happy about no increase in the mil rate it is however likely there will be an increase in the water tax.
