Rosemarie Goodyear has resigned as the CEO of Central Health.

The Department of Health confirmed the resignation in a statement on Monday, almost a week after Health Minister John Haggie had announced an external review of senior management at the health authority.

“The Board of Central Health has advised the Department of the CEO’s resignation,” the statement said. “We want to thank Ms. Goodyear for her years of service and wish her the best in her future endeavours. An interim CEO will be announced in the coming weeks. Recruitment for a new CEO will be completed through the legislated merit-based appointment process by the Independent Appointments Commission.”

Last week, Haggie announced that a former deputy minister of health from Nova Scotia would review problems in the relationship between senior management and the board of trustees at Central Health, as well as the relationship between senior management and clinical staff. The review is expected to take two months.
