In August of 2011, Carol King, from Mattis Point, disappeared from her Saskatchewan home. Three weeks later, her body was found. Five years later, King’s former boyfriend, Joseph Caissie, was charged with first-degree murder and offering an indignity to human remains. He will not go to trial until March of 2019, eight years after he is accused of killing the 40-year-old woman.
Caissie was ordered to stand trial in May, with a trial planned for this year. However, that was delayed after Caissie’s first lawyer withdrew, as did his second lawyer. His newest lawyer needed time to get up to speed on the case. The trial is expected to take six weeks.
