Charges against a man from Mount Pearl have been upgraded to first-degree murder.

Steve Bragg, 35, was originally charged with second-degree murder after Victoria Head’s body was found in a field off O’Brien’s Farm Road on Remembrance Day. They knew each other, but Head’s family says they weren’t romantically involved. Bragg was arrested on Dec. 22 and appeared in court the following day.

He has been in custody since his arrest. Since that date, the investigation has been ongoing. As a result of new evidence obtained during the investigation, officers today charged Bragg with first-degree murder.
