The House of Assembly will debate a new law to establish protest buffer zones around abortion clinics.
Justice Minister Andrew Parsons unveiled Bill 43 on Thursday. If it’s passed, protesters will no longer be able to demonstrate within 50 metres of abortion clinics, 160 metres of doctors’ homes, and 10 metres of doctors’ offices.
Anyone breaking the rules would be subject to fines of up to $10,000. The legislation mirrors the law currently in place in British Columbia.
