Early Saturday morning, Bay Roberts RCMP attempted to pull a vehicle over for speeding in Cupids, but the driver refused to stop. Police decided not to pursue the vehicle due to potential risk to the public. A short time later, several reports indicated the vehicle had lost control, crashed into a residence causing significant damage, then left the scene. RCMP Officers were able to locate the vehicle and arrested the 35-year old driver from Bareneed. Police learned that the woman had initially fled from police because she did not have a valid insurance policy. The vehicle was impounded and the driver faces charges for no insurance, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of an accident. There were no injuries and she will appear in court at a later date.
