UPDATE: There was a mugging at an ATM machine in the east end of St. John’s last night, and a woman was stabbed after refusing to hand over money…

It happened around 9:30 last night. The woman was using the Bank of Montreal ATM on Newfoundland Drive when two people came in behind her and demanded money. She refused and, according to police, was injured by a sharp edged weapon by one of the suspects. She was taken to the hospital for treatment and her injuries are not believed to be of a life threatening nature. Police quickly responded, sealing off the area, flooding the area with officers and cars – even going as far as to bring in a police dog to assist in the search. That search was unsuccessful. So far there has been no arrest, and there has been no description of the suspects released at this time. The investigation continues.
